Can tech save education?
The announcement of a high-powered task force under Nandan Nilekani has made big headlines. How much can it change the vibe from protest memes against a system of education and testing that’s led some students to take the extreme step of killing themselves, and others to spill their anger on the roads?
It is logical to believe that a group of highly educated and experienced leaders will use their collective understanding of ground realities, to find solutions. For the sake of our future generations, I want to be a believer, and not a cynic who worries that this may be just another committee, like the last one, with its 101 recommendations. Because even if recommendations are made in good faith, implementation is so hard.
