Tomba terminates Inter Kashi contract over dues, set to join FC Goa | Goa News
Panaji: Tomba Singh has unilaterally terminated his contract with Inter Kashi FC due to non-payment of dues and is now headed to FC Goa.Tomba, 22, had a year left on his existing three-year contract with Inter Kashi and was the target of several clubs due to his impressive performances in the top tier Indian Super League (ISL). He remained contracted but after the club defaulted on payments, the midfielder approached the player status committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for release.The AIFF checked his documents, and in accordance with Article 7.1 of the regulations on the status and transfer of players, cleared his path.Under Article 17 of the AIFF regulations on the status and transfer of players, if the club fails to pay a player at least two monthly salaries on their due dates, the player is deemed to have a just cause to terminate his contract, provided he has informed the defaulting club in writing and has granted a deadline of at least 15 days to fully comply with its financial obligation.Goa had their eyes on the young midfielder since the end of the season, and with Ayush Chhetri moving to Chennaiyin FC, found him as a worthy replacement. Tomba is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Super Cup champions in the next 24 to 48 hours.“Tomba is among the most promising young midfielders in the country and was wanted by several teams,” said a senior official. “Goa did not lose time in convincing him that a move here would be best suited for him.”At Goa, Spanish midfielder Alex Vallejo will be an automatic choice to be among the starting 11, while Tomba will have to compete for the second spot with three other youngsters, Harsh Patre, Prachit Gaonkar and Vellington Fernandes, who has been promoted to the seniors from the developmental squad.
