‘To show the goodness of Ram, Raavan’s evil is also needed’

Yash recalls rejecting seven film offers as a TV actor, explains choosing Raavan over Ram in ‘Ramayana’: ‘To show the goodness of Ram, Raavan's evil is also needed’

Rocking Star Yash who rose to pan-India fame with the ‘KGF’ franchise is gearing up for the release of two of his biggest projects to date: ‘Toxic’ and ‘Ramayana’. During a recent interview in Hindi, Yash looked back at his early days in television and spoke about the choices he made when he was still trying to enter films.

Yash remembers his television days

During his visit to the talk show Aap Ki Adalat, Yash was asked about a time when he was offered seven films while working in television. Instead of immediately accepting them, Yash asked all seven filmmakers to show him the script. The interviewer mentioned that people questioned Yash for asking for a script when he was only a television actor.Yash gave a confident reply. “Is that a crime, sir?” he said, which was met with applause from his fans. The interviewer then reminded him that those filmmakers were saying, “He is just a TV serial actor, yet he demands a script.”Yash replied, “That was then, sir, but who knows where those people are now.” When he was told that he lost all seven films because of this, Yash simply said, “Doesn’t matter, sir.”

Yash talks about his stardom

The conversation then moved to Yash’s journey after becoming a successful actor. The interviewer mentioned that once he became a big star, he demanded to be among the highest-paid actors and reportedly asked for Rs 50 crore for a film. Yash had a simple response. “More than that, sir,” he said with confidence. He showed the confidence that has become a part of his public personality after the success of the ‘KGF’ films.Yash is also co-producing and playing Raavan in the upcoming mythological epic ‘Ramayana’ along with Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita.

Why Yash chose to play Raavan?

When asked why he chose to play Raavan instead of Ram, Yash explained that the character of Raavan is important to the story.“Sir, to show the goodness of Ram, Raavan’s evil is also needed, sir,” he said. The actor also spoke about his confidence in playing the character.Yash was asked if he had taken on the role to show all the evil in the film. He rejected the idea and then spoke about his confidence in the role. “No one can portray it better than me, sir,” Yash said.He also explained why Raavan needs to appear extremely powerful before Lord Ram defeats him. “But this film needs a situation of ‘how on earth do we kill him?’ Only then is it Ramayana, right?” he said.Yash added that Raavan should appear almost impossible to defeat because of his boons and powers. Only then, he said, will Lord Ram’s victory have the required impact. As Yash is gearing up for ‘Toxic’ to release on August 26, 2026, ‘Ramayana’ is set to release during the Diwali festive on November 8, 2026.
