Southwest monsoon: Light to moderate rain in central Tamil Nadu | Trichy News
TRICHY: Moderate rainfall was recorded across Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) and other central districts over the 24-hour period from Friday morning to Saturday morning. Tiruchirappalli district recorded the highest average rainfall of 30.7 mm (3 cm) during the 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday to 8:30 am on Saturday. The Golden Rock and Tiruchirappalli Junction rain gauge stations recorded over 63 mm (6.3 cm) and 61 mm (6.1 cm) respectively. Both stations are located within the city area. Thanjavur district, the heartland of Tamil Nadu’s delta region, received an average of 26.4 mm (2.6 cm). Kumbakonam recorded the highest rainfall in the district at 112 mm (11.2 cm), followed by Papanasam with 67 mm (6.7 cm). Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts also received light showers during the 24-hour period. Moderate rainfall was similarly recorded in parts of Pudukkottai district.I
