President Droupadi Murmu approves 78 gallantry awards, including 13 posthumous
NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday approved 78 gallantry awards for personnel of the Defence Forces and Central Armed Police Forces on the eve of the 80th Independence Day. Of the 78 awards, 13 have been approved posthumously, according to the Press Information Bureau.The awards include nine Kirti Chakras, of which seven are posthumous, and 19 Shaurya Chakras, including one posthumous award.The President has also approved one Bar to Shaurya Chakra, five Bars to Sena Medals (Gallantry) and 36 Sena Medals (Gallantry), including five posthumous awards. The list also includes three Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry) and five Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).The awards have been approved to recognise gallantry among personnel of the Defence Forces and Central Armed Police Forces.

Underlining that students are the “architects of India’s future,” President Droupadi Murmu on Friday said the government is taking comprehensive steps to reform public examinations to completely curb paper leaks and unfair means, making the system transparent, secure, and trustworthy.

In her address to the nation on the eve of the country’s 80th Independence Day, the president stressed that just as government and society remain united to ensure national security, everyone must contribute through joint and concerted efforts to safeguard the present and future of students.“Public examinations become gateways to opportunities for our students. The government is undertaking comprehensive steps to reform these examinations.
