'No one should be born poor': UP priest dies by suicide; blames mother, 3 others in final video

MEERUT: A three-minute video purportedly recorded by a temple priest before he died by suicide has surfaced in Bulandshahr district, with the deceased blaming four people, including his mother, for driving him to take the extreme step. Police said they are examining the video’s authenticity as part of the investigation.The deceased, identified as Bittu, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room inside the Chamad temple premises in Niganj area of Shikarpur on Friday morning after devotees noticed that his room was locked from inside. Police broke open the door, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Bittu had reportedly been serving as the temple priest for nearly five years and was known locally for his quiet demeanour.In the video, which has since gone viral on social media, Bittu begins by speaking about what he described as neglect by his mother before apologising to her. He says it is his “last day”, holds four people responsible for his decision and expresses anguish over poverty, saying he would pray that no one should be born poor. He also states that he would not forgive those he blamed after his death.Police said the case initially appears to be one of suicide, but the contents of the video are being verified and all aspects of the incident are under investigation
