Kendrapada: The adhoc-additional district and sessions judge-cum-special judge of the fast track special court (FTSC), Jajpur, on Friday sentenced a 33-year-old man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and repeatedly raping a 16-year-old girl six years ago.Judge Sarat Chandra Dehuri also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him. On default, the convict will undergo an additional one year in jail. The court directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to pay Rs 1 lakh as compensation to the victim. The prosecution said the girl was kidnapped on Nov 13, 2020, and was raped for 12 days in a house in a nearby village.Her father had lodged a complaint at the police station on Nov 13, 2020, alleging that the accused forcibly kidnapped and raped his minor daughter. Police arrested the accused from a house near the village on Nov 25, 2020.Eleven witnesses, including the girl, testified in court. Based on their evidence and the medical report, the court convicted the accused, said special public prosecutor Alip Kumar Nayak.
