Lohagad murder case: Siya Goyal’s father hospitalised as probe into fiancée Ketan Agarwal’s death gathers pace | Pune News
PUNE: The father of accused Siya Goyal has been admitted to a hospital amid the fallout from the sensational Lohagad Fort murder case that has shocked Maharashtra. His wife, Puja Goyal, is currently with him at the hospital.Siya, 20, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, 22, were arrested last week for allegedly murdering Siya’s fiancée, Ketan Agarwal, 26, by pushing him into a 400-foot gorge at Lohagad Fort near Lonavla on June 18.According to investigators, Ketan, a director and chief marketing officer of his family’s real estate firm Success Group, was lured to the fort under the pretext of celebrating Siya’s birthday, which fell the following day.Police claim the murder was the culmination of a months-long conspiracy. CCTV footage from June 17 allegedly showed Siya and Chaudhary meeting at a cafe, where investigators believe they finalised their plan and identified the location from which Ketan would be pushed. On June 18, Siya accompanied Ketan to the fort while Chaudhary allegedly arrived separately on a two-wheeler, concealing his identity with a hoodie despite the hot weather. Police allege the pair pushed Ketan into the gorge at a secluded spot on the fort.Initially, Siya claimed Ketan had accidentally slipped while posing for photographs. She informed his family and local residents about the incident and, a day later, posted an emotional birthday tribute to him on social media. However, Ketan’s family rejected the accident theory, citing his experience as a trekker. The investigation subsequently uncovered extensive communication between Siya and Chaudhary, including 2,004 phone calls and 238 hours of conversations over six months, which police say helped expose the alleged conspiracy.Investigators have also alleged that this was not the first attempt on Ketan’s life. They claim Siya tried to push him from the same fort on May 31 and again on June 14. During the second alleged attempt, Ketan reportedly survived by grabbing a bush, after which Siya allegedly diverted attention by claiming she had spotted a snake.Police further allege that Siya had earlier sabotaged a planned pre-wedding trip to Bali by stealing and destroying Ketan’s passport near the Khalapur toll plaza. Both accused remain in police custody until June 29. They have been booked for murder and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Maharashtra Assembly’s presiding officer has directed the government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. Ketan’s mother has demanded capital punishment for the accused, while his father has sought a fast-track trial.
