India bans sugar exports until September 2026 amid supply concerns: Report

Centre on Wednesday banned sugar exports with immediate effect until September 30, 2026, or until further notice, in a move aimed at controlling domestic prices, as per a report by Reuters.India, the world’s second-largest sugar producer and a major exporter, had earlier allowed mills to ship 1.59 million tonnes, but weaker cane yields are now expected to push production below domestic demand for a second straight year.
