NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and four members of his family have been served notices by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Notices have been issued to Kejriwal, his wife Sunita Kejriwal, son Pulkit Kejriwal, and parents Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi. Kejriwal is a registered voter in the New Delhi-40 assembly constituency.According to Delhi Election Commission documents, Arvind Kejriwal and five members of his family are among 110 voters from ‘Part-51, KG Marg’ in the New Delhi assembly constituency who have been issued notices.The party questioned the move saying, “Is everything happening in this country just to keep the Supreme Lord happy? @ECISVEEP, how is it possible that the names of three-time Delhi Chief Minister @ArvindKejriwal Ji and his family members are missing from the Delhi voter list?”

EC responds to Kejriwal’s SIR notice
The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), New Delhi, has said notices were issued to former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his family members as their submitted Enumeration Forms did not contain sufficient details to establish their linkage with the electoral rolls of the last revision in their respective states.The ERO said, “the submitted Enumeration Forms were not complete in terms of details which would have enabled linkage of themselves with the electoral roll of the last revision of the respective states, which were not present in their submitted Enumeration Forms.”In a press statement, the ERO further said that notices were being issued in accordance with procedures established and communicated by the Election Commission to electors who could not be linked to the electoral roll of the last revision or whose linkage showed logical discrepancies.“ As per procedures established and communicated by ECI, Notices are being issued to the electors who could not be linked with the electoral roll of the last revision and those having logical discrepancies in their linking with the electoral roll of the last revision. Electors have to submit a reply/requisite documents to the ERO concerned on receipt of the Notice. Disposal of Notices will be completed by 29.10.2026,” the statement said.The Election Commission also said a notice was issued to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta after her name appeared in the list of discrepancies during the ongoing SIR process.Following verification of her details and documents, her electoral entry was validated and will be included in the final electoral roll for AC-14 (Shalimar Bagh), scheduled to be published on November 4, 2026.The notices come amid the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise being conducted by the Delhi Election Commission. Nearly 47.6 lakh names were removed from Delhi’s draft electoral roll published on August 31, but only a fraction of those affected have so far submitted Form 6 seeking re-inclusion.The window for filing claims and objections against the draft roll will remain open until September 30.The draft electoral roll contains 97.5 lakh electors, compared with 1.45 crore registered voters in Delhi when the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise began in June.Data showed that 62,583 Form 6 applications, including those from first-time voters seeking inclusion, had been submitted by September 15. The number rose to 68,043 by September 16.The 47.6 lakh electors excluded from Delhi’s draft electoral roll have been categorised as Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others following the house-to-house verification exercise. Around 43.3 lakh were marked as absent or shifted, while about 2.8 lakh were categorised as dead and 1.4 lakh as duplicate entries.

According to figures released by the Delhi election office for the claims and objections phase, 91,826 applications were received between August 31 and September 16.These included 22,715 Form 8 applications seeking correction or modification of existing electoral entries, 922 Form 7 applications seeking deletion of names on grounds such as death, shifting, duplicate registration or ineligibility, and 146 Form 6A applications from overseas electors, besides Form 6 applications for inclusion in the electoral roll.After the claims and objections phase ends, officials will examine the applications and complete the disposal process by October 29. The final electoral roll under the SIR exercise is scheduled to be published on November 4.
