Gulki Joshi’s Marathi look brings back Maddam Sir memories, leaves her mother emotional
Gulki Joshi took a trip down memory lane with her latest social media post, sharing pictures of herself in a traditional Marathi look two days ago. The look was for her ongoing show Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan, where the actress was dressed in a dark green silk sari with a broad gold-and-pink border. She completed the traditional look with a matching blouse, gold jewellery, green glass bangles, a nath and the sari’s pallu draped over her head. The avatar, however, reminded Gulki of another character she played in a Marathi look. The actress played Urmila Mhatre in Maddam Sir and recalls enjoying the process of getting ready in the traditional attire for the show. She says, “This reminds me of two things. First, my alter ego character in Maddam Sir, Urmila Mhatre. I used to get ready in such a Marathi look for that and have a blast on set.”The pictures also had a more personal impact on her mother. After Gulki sent her the images, her mother became emotional, seeing in the look a glimpse of how she imagines her daughter as a bride. Gulki says, “Mom’s reaction when I sent her these pics, she got emotional because this is how beautiful she imagines me on my wedding day.”For Gulki, the look brought back memories of playing Urmila and the fun she had on the Maddam Sir sets. For her mother, it offered an unexpected glimpse of a future she has imagined for her daughter.
