FIR against doctor for obstructing traffic police | Goa News
Panaji: Porvorim police registered an FIR against a 73-year-old doctor for allegedly obstructing a traffic police officer from discharging his duty after he was stopped for driving on the wrong side of the road at Malim junction.According to the complaint lodged by head constable Sushant Mhapankar of the traffic cell, Porvorim, he and other personnel were regulating traffic on Friday and clearing congestion caused by an earlier accident at Malim junction when the incident occurred.Police said that at 3.15pm, Audumbar alias Uday Bandodkar, a resident of Tonca, Miramar, was driving from Panaji towards Porvorim when he allegedly crossed into the wrong lane on the bridge and approached at high speed.When traffic police signalled him to stop, the driver allegedly ignored the signal and drove the vehicle towards the complainant. Police further alleged that the doctor threatened the officer. According to police, when Mhapankar approached the vehicle, the doctor allegedly pushed him and drove away towards Porvorim.PI Tukaram Chavan said Bandodkar was later called to the Porvorim police station, where he stated that he had been in a hurry to attend to his patients.An investigation is under way, with PSI Arun Shirodkar conducting further inquiries.
