Ludhiana: Four unidentified bike-borne robbers brutally stabbed two cousins and snatched a silver chain after a failed mobile phone snatching attempt in Ludhiana’s Rishi Nagar area on Monday night. The victims, 20-year-old Pawan and 21-year-old Nilesh, sustained critical injuries and have been referred to PGIMER Chandigarh for specialised medical treatment.The incident occurred near the Y-Block market on Panj Peer Road. Nilesh, a local labourer, was returning home from work when his cousin Pawan arrived on a motorcycle to pick him up. After parking their bike near the market to purchase some items, the duo was suddenly intercepted by four youths riding two motorcycles.The assailants initially attempted to grab the cousins’ mobile phones. When Pawan and Nilesh resisted the snatching attempt, the suspects pulled out knives and stabbed them multiple times before forcibly pulling a silver chain from Pawan’s neck and fleeing the spot.Despite his severe stab wounds, Pawan managed to call his family to report the attack. Relatives rushed to the market, initially moving the injured duo to a local private hospital. Due to their deteriorating health parameters, they were transferred to the Ludhiana civil hospital, where doctors routed them to Chandigarh.Local police officials confirmed that the victims are residents of New Surya Vihar. Police have initiated legal proceedings to register an FIR and have deployed teams to trace the absconding attackers.
