‘Dimagi Naxal Party’ Instagram page emerges after PM Modi’s I-Day remark, gains 1.7 lakh followers
NEW DELHI: A new Instagram account named “Dimagi Naxal Party” has rapidly gained attention on social media, crossing 1.7 lakh followers within days of its emergence.“Dimagi Naxal Party” Instagram page is currently unavailable. Before it went offline, the account had posted stories claiming that it had been targeted in several cyber attacks.The account, @dimaginaxalparty, describes itself as the official page of the “Dimagi Naxal Party” and carries the slogan “Think, Research, Resist”. Its bio identifies its founder as “A Dimagi Indian” and co-founder as “56 Inch ka”, while directing users to an X account, @DNJP_India.The Instagram page had 65 posts and followed 35 accounts as of Monday. Information available on the platform showed that the account was created in August. The identity of the person or group operating the account has not been disclosed.

The account follows a number of prominent public figures, including comedian Kunal Kamra, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, actor Prakash Raj, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, actor Sonakshi Sinha, comedian Shyam Rangeela, activist Sonam Wangchuk and journalist Ravish Kumar. It also follows CJP, which recently launched a similar social media campaign.The emergence of the account comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the term “dimagi Naxal” in his Independence Day address.Addressing the nation from the Red Fort on Saturday, PM Modi said armed Naxalism had been pushed out of the forests but warned that “dimagi Naxals” were still present. He said people with a Maoist mindset had established themselves in government corridors and influenced public policy, and urged citizens to “identify and isolate” them.The remark triggered a political exchange between the BJP and opposition leaders. Former union home minister P Chidambaram responded on X, saying, “I am proud to be a dimagi Naxal,” and described the term as a new variant of earlier labels such as “urban Naxals”, “Andolanjeevi” and “tukde tukde gang”.Union minister Kiren Rijiju subsequently said Modi had not referred to opposition leaders as “dimagi Naxals”. He said the term applied to those who support Maoists, reject the Constitution, back separatists and seek to separate the Northeast from the rest of India.The account’s rapid growth comes shortly after the emergence of the Cockroach Janta Party, another social media handle that gained a large following after being created earlier this month.The CJP has since announced a “School Thik Karo” campaign to highlight the condition of government schools.
