Ravikumar has recently made a surprising revelation from his past when he worked with Dhanush which was shelved years ago due to an unexpected financial crisis involving a Vijay film. This confession comes just as the duo celebrates the massive success of their 2026 action-thriller, Kara, which hit theaters on April 30.K. S. Speaking about the project in a chat with Rednool, Ravikumar said, “We had planned everything properly and even conducted the pooja. Kamal Haasan himself came and inaugurated the film.” He explained that the project was backed by producer Pyramid Natarajan, and they had joined hands with Dhanush’s father, Kasthuri Raja. However, things took a turn when the producer faced financial trouble. “A Vijay film he produced did not perform well, and that created a financial crisis,” Ravikumar said, pointing to the main reason behind the film getting shelved.The director further revealed that a lot of effort had already gone into the film. “We even did a full photoshoot. We created a booklet like an invitation, where Dhanush appeared in different looks and emotions,” he shared. The script was written by Ramesh Khanna.Even though Dhanush was juggling a packed schedule back then, the production team had successfully coordinated the timelines and was ready to proceed. However, the sudden financial crisis brought the project to a standstill, ultimately leading to the film being permanently shelved.K. S.
