CUSB joins BTISNet national network

Patna: The department of bioinformatics at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) was inducted into the Biotechnology Information System Network (BTISNet), a nationwide bioinformatics network established by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), govt of India, on Wednesday.BTISNet links leading research institutes and universities across the country to promote research, education, and innovation in life sciences and computational biology.Welcoming the achievement, CUSB vice-chancellor Prof K N Singh said the university’s inclusion in the DBT’s national bioinformatics network would significantly strengthen research infrastructure and create new opportunities for researchers across the Magadh region and other parts of Bihar.The DBT-supported project will be implemented by CUSB teachers Asheesh Shanker and R S Rathore. The initiative will promote teaching, research, and capacity building in bioinformatics, biotechnology, pharmacy, life sciences, agriculture, and allied disciplines. A key component of the project will be to provide advanced bioinformatics support and disseminate knowledge through training programmes, workshops, and skill-development initiatives for researchers and students, the vice-chancellor said.In another significant academic achievement, Prafull Kumar Singh of the university’s department of geology has been elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI). He has been honoured in recognition of his sustained and outstanding contributions to the fields of water resources, geospatial applications, and geohazards.
