CM Devendra Fadnavis meets Anna Hazare at Mumbai hospital, activist recovering from viral infection | Mumbai News
MUMBAI: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday met social activist Anna Hazare at Bombay Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment after a month-long viral fever and bouts of loose stools, with doctors saying his condition is stable and that he is responding well to treatment.Hazare was shifted to the Mumbai hospital from Shirur after his infection worsened slightly and doctors found indications that it was beginning to affect his kidneys.Dr Gautam Bhansali, consultant physician and infectious disease specialist, said Hazare had been admitted on Monday night and was under his care.
Anna Hazare stable, showing improvement
Bhansali said Hazare had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Shirur but had been in and out of the facility over the past month because of the viral fever and recurring loose stools.“He had been suffering from a viral fever for about a month and had also experienced bouts of loose stools,” Bhansali said.“Consequently, he had been in and out of the hospital in Shirur. When the infection worsened slightly and there were indications that it was beginning to affect his kidneys—it was decided to move him to Bombay Hospital for further testing,” the doctor said.At the time of admission, Hazare was stable but had weakness and fatigue.“At the time of admission, he was completely stable, though he was experiencing some weakness and fatigue. We have since initiated the appropriate treatment, and he is showing significant improvement and responding well to the therapy. He has been placed in a special ward room; there was no need to admit him to the ICU,” the doctor added.Bhansali said Hazare was eating and drinking comfortably and remained stable.
Tests underway at Bombay Hospital
Doctors have conducted several tests, including a 2D echocardiogram, while further investigations, urine tests and infection screenings are underway.The reports are expected within the next three to four days, after which doctors will decide on the further course of treatment.Hazare has been kept in a special ward room and does not require intensive care, Bhansali said.
