Bokaro administration begins process to set up Luguburu development authority | Ranchi News
Bokaro: The district administration has begun setting up a development authority for Luguburu Ghantabari, a tribal and cultural site in Gomia, following directions from the tourism department.Deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha said, “The proposed authority is expected to bring development and tourism-related activities in the area under a more organised framework while ensuring that Luguburu Ghantabari’s tribal identity, traditions and cultural heritage remain protected.”Officials discussed the authority’s composition, objectives, powers and responsibilities of the chairperson, vice-chairperson and member-secretary, and rules for meetings, financial arrangements, budgeting and accounts. The administration stressed retaining the participation of the local organising committee and prominent community representatives to combine administrative oversight with local knowledge and participation.Jha directed officials to prepare the draft under applicable rules and statutory provisions, saying it would be finalised after suggestions and approvals. “The draft will be completed within the next three days and forwarded for further action,” he added.Luggu Buru Ghanta Badi Dharamgarh, a revered shrine atop Luggu Hill in Lalpania’s Gomia block, draws Santhalis and devotees from other communities who worship Luggu Baba, regarded as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Reaching the cave temple requires a difficult six-kilometre trek up a steep hill, yet visitor numbers continue to rise.Babuli Soren, a local Santhal, said, “Devotees walk for miles to seek blessings at the Luggu Baba temple. The natural cave atop the hill is where they perform their pujas.”For the Santhal community, one of India’s largest tribal groups, Luggu Temple remains a vital spiritual centre. Its forested setting about 70 km from Bokaro and 3,500-hectare green cover with streams add to its appeal.
