Vijayanagara writer to represent state at global tribal literature meetHosapete (Vijayanagara): Noted writer, poet and social activist Anjali Belagal has been selected as the chief guest for the International Indian Tribal Literature Conference-2026, to be held in Bhopal from June 28 to July 2. The lone representative from Karnataka, Belagal will speak on Kannada literature and the state’s tribal communities. She will also be honoured by the Bhopal government and Parakram Janseva Sansthan for her contributions to literature, social service, environmental conservation and tribal studies. The conference will bring together noted writers, officials and Indian soldiers from across the country.———–Two killed as building canopy collapsesDevdurg (Raichur): Two men were killed and five others injured, one of them critically, after the canopy of a building collapsed near the new bus stand in Devdurg town on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Ravichandra, 35, and Nagaraj, 30, who were trapped under the debris and died on the spot. The accident occurred while they were putting up posters for a short film they had made, when the projecting roof suddenly gave way. The injured were shifted to the Devdurg taluk hospital and RIMS. One of the injured is said to be in a critical condition. A case has been registered at the Devdurg police station.
