Annie Sharma: This content creator says you don’t need to quit your 9-to-5 to travel the world – here’s how
Travel content online often celebrates people who leave their jobs and start exploring the world full-time. While those stories are inspiring, they can also make regular professionals wonder if travelling often is possible without making a major career change. A recent Instagram video is now getting attention for offering a different perspective. Instead of talking about quitting work, lifestyle and travel creator Annie Sharma explains how she fits travel into a regular 9-to-5 schedule by making practical choices that work for her.
No last-minute travel plans
One of the first things Annie highlights is that she does not rely on spontaneous trips. She says every trip is planned around two months before she leaves.“I usually don’t take spontaneous trips because this helps me calculate how much money I need to save, how much the expenditure will be, and how many leaves I will take,” she says. For her, planning early makes it easier to sort out finances and work commitments before booking a trip.
Why she chooses 10-day holidays
Annie says she prefers trips that last around 10 days instead of short vacations. Her reason is to make better use of weekends while balancing work.“What this helps me do is sandwich two weekends during my trip. I can explore the place on weekends, and on weekdays I can also work remotely,” she explains. She says this allows her to spend more time exploring without being away from work throughout the entire trip.
Remote work and additional earnings make a difference
According to Annie, remote work is one of the biggest reasons she can travel this way. She also shares that she earns through social media content, sponsored activities, and occasional sponsored trips. These income sources help support her travel expenses.
Her takeaway for others
Towards the end of the video, Annie says people should not feel pressured by what they see on social media.“So the point is, you don’t have to leave your job to follow your passion because everyone on social media is saying you do that. Sometimes all it needs is better planning,” she says.Disclaimer: The Times of India has not independently verified the claims made in the video. Thumb image: Instagram/@gypsyescape
