Delhi’s Assembly, Secretariat, and an Army school received bomb threats on Friday.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Assembly, the Delhi Secretariat and the Army Public School received bomb threats on Friday, prompting authorities to step up security measures across the national capital, news agency PTI reported. The threats were later declared a hoax.A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officer said the department received three calls regarding the Assembly, the Army Public School in Shankar Vihar and the Secretariat.“Teams were immediately despatched to the three spots. After the dog squad, bomb disposal squad and other teams checked the premises, the threats were declared a hoax,” the officer said.No suspicious object was found, and further investigation is underway to identify the source of the calls and emails, the officer said.A high alert has been sounded across the city, with security strengthened at key government installations and other sensitive locations as a precautionary measure, he added. The threat came amid heightened tensions over the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest. The ‘Sansad Chalo’ march towards the Parliament on Monday resulted in lashes between protesters and police in central Delhi.Delhi Police has since registered several FIRs in connection with the violence and alleged vandalism during the march.CJP, meanwhile, has accused Delhi Police of using excessive force during the crackdown, alleging that volunteers were beaten and dragged on roads.(With inputs from PTI)
