AIMPLB to launch campaign for protection Constitution and Sharia
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board will launch a movement on Sept 17

NEW DELHI: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board will launch a movement on Sept 17 to mobilise public opinion for protection of the Constitution and ‘Sharia’, religious freedom and rights and dignity of citizens. The Board plans to start the campaign from Jantar Mantar in Delhi and reach out to all faiths over three months.In a statement, the board said that as part of the campaign, a charter of demands will be submitted to the President of India Droupadi Murmu through governors in each state. Besides these issues, the charter will also include demands concerning elimination of hate crimes, prevention of unlawful demolitions, protection of Waqf properties and religious places, and equal enforcement of the law.The Board also proposes to bring out a ‘White Paper’ documenting incidents involving discrimination against Muslims, constitutional and human rights violations and release a comprehensive declaration on the issue of lynching.It said over the past several years conditions have emerged wherein vulnerable and marginalised sections, particularly Muslims, have been subjected to discriminatory treatment.
