Buxar: A 30-year-old man was found dead in a canal near Ravidas Temple at Ojha Baraon village under Murar police station area of Buxar on Wednesday, police said.The deceased was identified as Raj Bahadur Ram, a daily-wage worker and a resident of the village. Locals spotted the body in the canal around 10am and informed the police.Murar police, along with DSP Sameer Kumar Singh and a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team, reached the spot. The forensic team collected evidence before the body was sent for postmortem.According to family members, Raj Bahadur had left home around 7pm on Tuesday after dinner, telling them he was going for a walk. When he did not return, relatives searched for him throughout the night but failed to trace him.On Wednesday morning, after the rain stopped, family members resumed the search near Ravidas Temple and found his body in the canal.Raj Bahadur, the third among five brothers, is survived by three children, including a newborn.The DSP said the preliminary investigation suggested that the victim may have accidentally slipped into the canal and drowned. However, he added that police were probing all possible angles and would conduct an impartial investigation into the incident.
