Baba Ramdev flags ‘90% corruption’ in govt job interviews, warns of more Gen-Z protests
HARIDWAR: Yoga guru Swami Ramdev has raised serious questions over the ongoing student protests and the recruitment system for government jobs. Speaking during the Independence Day celebrations at Patanjali Yogpeeth, Ramdev said growing protests across the country indicate serious problems within the education and employment system.On the student protests in Jharkhand, Ramdev said students are taking to the streets because basic facilities are still missing in several schools and colleges. He pointed to shortages of teachers, books, electricity, water and toilets, while also raising concerns over cheating and paper leaks across the country.Ramdev made a strong allegation regarding government recruitment, claiming that “90 per cent” corruption takes place during interviews. He alleged that candidates are sometimes favoured on the basis of caste, community, social group or ideology, while deserving candidates are pushed aside.He warned that the system needs to be corrected before public anger leads to more protests.“There is still time. Reform the system, otherwise there could be more movements in the country,” Ramdev said.At the same time, he clarified that he does not support violence or anarchy in the name of protests. However, he said allegations of corruption and irregularities cannot simply be ignored.Ramdev also criticised growing political polarisation, saying the ruling party and opposition should not treat each other as enemies. He called for greater mutual respect between the government and opposition as well as between caste and communities of India.
