For four years, I’ve been using an electric scooter to commute to work. Till before the Covid lockdown, I commuted mostly by public bus. Post-Covid, Bengaluru bus corporation’s fleet had reduced, and buses were congested. I considered my options, including the near impossibility of getting car parking near my office. And finally decided on a scooter, despite dire warnings: “Really! At this age!”

Office is 19km from home. And the ride can get boring. Unlike in a car where you can listen to music or podcasts, it’s not that simple on a scooter – helmets and eyeglasses integrated with Bluetooth speakers are expensive, though quality cheaper ones are in the works. Rain and harsh sun can be dampeners too.
