What ‘dirty’ football tells us about us
Just because most matches are watched on TV, doesn’t mean every team has an obligation to play attractively. That point is being missed in this World Cup
Of late, Paraguay’s team has been pilloried by the football press and public.
Among other things, the Latin American side has been described as “hooligans”; their style of play labelled as “dirty”, “ugly” and “anti-football”.

These accusations have been primarily made by self-appointed gatekeepers, who create the rulebook of aesthetics from the vantage position of privilege.
