Why every victim deserves justice
For a long time, discussions on domestic violence have focused mainly on women, and rightly so, as many women continue to face serious abuse. But this should not stop us from acknowledging that men can also become victims of violence, abuse, and even murder.
Many men hesitate to speak about their suffering because they fear being laughed at or not being taken seriously. Some remain silent because they believe no one will believe them. This silence often leaves their pain unnoticed and their families without support.
Justice should never depend on whether the victim is a man or a woman. The law must treat every complaint fairly, examine the facts carefully, and ensure that every offender is held accountable. Gender should not decide who receives sympathy or protection.
Talking about men’s issues is not an attempt to reduce the struggles faced by women. It is a call to make our justice system more balanced and more inclusive. A society that truly believes in equality cannot ignore one group of victims while supporting another.
Every life has equal value. Every victim deserves to be heard. If we want a fair and compassionate society, we must be willing to recognise suffering wherever it exists. Real equality is achieved not by choosing whose pain matters, but by ensuring that justice remains the same for everyone.
