The F’s after failing
Is failing easy?
Even a toddler cries when she drops her toy she was happily playing with!
Think about the grown ups who invest their efforts, time, money and emotions to bring their dreams to life! And instead of basking in the glory of success, they end up stumbling down the ladder.
All hopes shattered into pieces in the snap of a finger. Alas!
Some give-up right at that moment while only a handful rebuild themselves, just to fall and ‘fail’ again! Yet they do not succumb to the fiascos. Else, why would we admire the legendary Walt Disney and Thomas Edison.
I sometimes wonder what kept them going! Perhaps the key lies in the F’s after failing
Face: Accept that you have failed but only ‘temporarily’, as not every failure has equal weightage. Take a deep breath and acknowledge, it will prepare you to restore the damage.
Find: Finding an opportunity buried under the rubble of failure is like finding gold among gravel. The theory of Metacognition is all about identifying wrong assumptions and bad strategies made by
you. Make sense from your confusion.
Fix: The double loop learning concept by Chris Argyris makes us dig deeper into the problem. Stop wasting time over the symptoms, get to the root cause and fix the damage permanently.
Faith: The very belief in yourself that you can succeed despite the odds brightens the chances of flying towards victory .
Forward: Finally, move ahead with courage and patience. The world will celebrate your triumph!
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Thomas Edison
