3 FIRs lodged against 14 named, over 200 unnamed after Aug 21 police-students clash
The FIRs were registered at Ranchi’s Kotwali police station.

RANCHI: At least three FIRs were registered on Saturday against 14 named and more than 200 unidentified persons in connection with a clash between police and job aspirants in Ranchi, officials said.The cases were lodged at Kotwali police station for allegedly obstructing government work and clashing with police personnel, according to news agency PTI.“Three FIRs have been registered against 14 named accused and over 200 unidentified persons at Kotwali police station in connection with Friday’s clash,” Ranchi City SP Paras Rana said.According to another official, one of the FIRs was filed by the police against alleged miscreants for obstructing government duty and violating route-chart norms.The remaining two FIRs were lodged by private individuals, the official added.The clash took place on Friday when students protesting against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand scuffled with police. During the protest, some agitators allegedly attempted to burn effigies of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, officials said.Student leaders protesting under the banner of the ‘JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch’ have accused the state government of “deceiving” and “betraying” job aspirants after the Jharkhand High Court stayed certain notifications cancelling appointments made through the 11th and 13th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination.On Friday, the High Court stayed notifications cancelling the appointments of Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and candidates recruited through the JSSC-CGL examination.A day earlier, the court had stayed notifications cancelling the 11th and 13th JPSC examinations. It also stayed the order cancelling the appointments of food safety officers.
