SINGRAULI: A Bluetooth earphone, a phone call with a married engineer and a locked room were among the last reported details of social media influencer Nidhi Tiwari’s final hours, according to her mother, who told police that the engineer closely monitored her daughter and often wanted to know where she was and who she was with.On the night of Nidhi’s death, her mother said, she was wearing the earphone when she received the engineer’s call shortly after performing a puja downstairs.According to Hemlata Tiwari, Nidhi often remained connected with the engineer through a Bluetooth earphone even while she was at home.She alleged that he kept a close watch on her and frequently asked about her whereabouts and the people around her.
Bluetooth earphone, final call before she went upstairs
Hemlata told police that Nidhi performed a puja downstairs on the night of the incident before going upstairs. She was wearing a Bluetooth earphone when she received the call, according to her mother.After the conversation, Nidhi allegedly went into her room and locked the door.The family knocked on the door between 9pm and 10pm, but Nidhi did not open it and reportedly asked them to leave her alone.The next morning, when there was still no response, the family informed police. Officers reached the house and found Nidhi hanging inside the room after looking through a window.She was taken to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Mother alleges engineer closely monitored Nidhi
Hemlata also alleged that the engineer frequently wanted to know where Nidhi was and who she was with.She said Nidhi had worked as a receptionist at GS Grand Hotel in Morwa, where she became acquainted with the engineer, who worked for an NCL outsourcing company and frequently stayed at the hotel.According to the family, the two later became close. They subsequently learnt that the man was married and had two children and allegedly asked Nidhi to distance herself from him.However, her mother said, the two continued to remain in contact.The family’s allegations have not been independently verified.
Police examining call records
Police are examining Nidhi’s call records and the people she was in contact with before her death. Investigators are also verifying the family’s allegations concerning the married engineer and his role, if any, in the events leading up to her death.A social media post attributed to Nidhi and reportedly shared shortly before her death is also being examined.Singrauli SP Siyaz K M said the matter was under investigation and that the claims made by the family were being verified. Her call details are also being analysed.Nidhi, 30, was found hanging inside a room at her home in the Bhusa Mod area under Morwa police station limits. The exact circumstances and cause of her death have not yet been established by the investigation.
