Sonam Kapoor’s dual-weave saree proves Kalamkari and Baluchari belong in the same frame
Sonam Kapoor and fashion always go hand-in-hand, and the diva, who has not once let us down is now giving full-fledged maternity styling looks that have redefined the segment in India like anything. But her recent look feels curated in an exhibition, where she made a saree moment look less conventional and more like quiet history. The craftsmanship and contemporary styling made everything look iconic, where she chose to slay not in one but two statement textiles and proved how harmoniously and seamlessly fashion can be.

Sonam wore a soft pink kalamkari drape by Asha Gautam featuring hand-rendered storytelling motifs and painterly detailing, which carried a fluid vibe with a lightweight feel. But things amplified when she layered it with a pistachio and pink Baluchari saree from The Far East Art Studio, which featured 19th-century archival detailing inspired by The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The two weaves met like soft chapters of the same book, where one was painted and one woven, creating an enchanting look. For her styling, she layered heritage jewellery and wore temple-style necklaces with stacked bangles, which echoed the old-world artistry and looked like they were picked from the classic era.

On the beauty front, she neatly parted her hair, tied a sleek bun, and kept a dewy base with winged eyes, peach cheeks, and glossy lips. She rounded off the look with a small bindi, maintaining a ceremonial theme in which every piece she wore resembled a perfect heirloom. This dramatic sculpted silhouette indeed redefined occasion dressing, and the statement drapes are indeed going in our fashion lookbook.
