Safe celebrations issued: CM Hemant Soren outlines security plans for upcoming festivals; Focus on creating safe zones and monitoring social media

Ranchi: Chairing a meeting with officials on law and order during upcoming festivals, chief minister Hemant Soren on Thursday issued a series of instructions, including creation of safe zone on procession routes, documentation of all activities during processions, keeping vigil over social media and making special arrangement for women and children.The CM held the meeting at his residential office where senior officers of state headquarters were present while the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of districts were connected online.The CM said, “The administration must be on alert mode round the clock to ensure peaceful celebration of Eid, Sarhul and Ram Navami in the coming days. Apart from deploying adequate police force at the sensitive areas and religious sites, informers must also be told to send message to the administration about any activity immediately. Cooperation of all communities must be secured in this regard.”The CM said that physical verification of the procession routes should be done to prepare for security arrangements. He said that all activities of sobha yatras and procession must be documented, adding it would help in framing strategies for festivals in the future.He said that a strict watch be kept on the social media and action be taken against the anti-social elements intending to spread rumours to create disturbances in society.He said that there should be special arrangement to safely rescue women and children when any untoward incident takes place during the processions. He said that safe zones be created at different places along the procession routes for safety of people.He also said that there should be uninterrupted power supply, public announcement system, prohibition on playing of offensive songs, vigil over the sensitive places through closed circuit television cameras and aerial surveillance of procession routes by drones. He said that the height of the flags during processions should be according to the directions of Jharkhand High Court.Chief secretary Avinash Kumar, additional chief secretary Vandana Dadel, director general of police Tadasha Mishra and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
