‘Narivetta’ is profitable, not a failure’: Director Anuraj Manohar hits back at producers association | Malayalam Movie News
‘Narivetta’ is a film released this year and directed by Anuraj Manohar with Tovino Thomas as the lead.Recently, the Producers Association released figures saying that only fifteen films were profitable this year and that ‘Narivetta’ did not make profits in theaters. Anuraj Manohar strongly opposed this claim. He said clearly that Narivetta is a profitable film. He also said they are ready to reveal the full account details to prove it. Narivetta collected Rs 31.43 crore at the box office. The film was made on a budget of Rs 10 crore.
Anuraj Manohar’s strong Facebook post
Reacting to the verdict, Anuraj wrote a long and emotional post on Facebook. He wrote, “Narivetta is a film I directed and released in May this year.” He also said many big producers rejected the film before Indian Cinema Company came forward. “With the belief and love for this film, Indian Cinema Company finally came forward to produce it,” he wrote. He pointed out that this was the company’s first production.
Anuraj calls it a ‘knife at the throat of the industry’
Anuraj strongly criticized the Producers Association’s statement. He wrote, “When people loudly announce that all films are total failures, they are holding a knife to the throat of this industry.” He also questioned the intention behind such verdicts. He said if the aim is to stop new producers and keep power in the same hands, then the industry will fall into the hands of big corporate companies. He compared it to “tying a dog near a haystack—neither eating nor letting others eat.”

Hard work should not be trampled
Ending his post, Anuraj spoke about struggle and hard work. He wrote, “Every film is a battle. No one lifted us up by holding our hands.” He added, “The shoes worn thin by walking and the clothes soaked with sweat are witnesses.” He ended with a clear message: “You may ignore hard work, but do not trample over it.”
