Man stabbed to death over old dispute in Patna village | Patna News
Patna: A 40-year-old man Ramakant Paswan was stabbed to death, while his son Golu Kumar was injured in an attack over an old feud of setting up a shop in Arap village under Bikram police station area in Paliganj subdivision of Patna district late Sunday night.Local sources said a violent altercation broke out between two people — Golu and Saryug Sharma (45) — over setting up vegetable shops. In a fit of rage, Saryug allegedly attacked Golu with a knife. Golu, to save his life, fled to his house, while Saryug followed him. When Golu’s father, Ramakant, intervened to protect his son, he was allegedly stabbed by Saryug several times. The accused fled after committing the crime.Ramakant was rushed to a nearby primary health centre, but he succumbed to his injuries.Bikram police station in charge Prabhat Kumar said, “On the complaint of the Ramakant’s family, the police conducted a raid and Saryug has been arrested along with the knife used in the attack. He was forwarded to jail on Monday,” he said.“The altercation took place between the two over some petty issue, which escalated on Sunday night, leading to the death of a person. The forensic team was called to the spot to gather evidence. The body was sent to a govt hospital for postmortem and further investigation is underway,” Kumar said.Following the incident, grieving family members and villagers staged a protest by blocking NH-139 on Monday morning, causing traffic disruptions on the highway. They demanded strict action and death penalty for the accused. The police pacified the protesters and assured swift action.
