BENGALURU: A one-and-a-half-year-old girl fell from the first floor of a residential building while playing at Nayandahalli in west Bengaluru.The incident took place around 6.30pm on April 6. The toddler was playing inside the house when she wandered out through the main door into the passage. She is believed to have climbed onto a chair placed near a metal grill, lost her balance, and fallen onto the road below.A passerby who witnessed the fall immediately alerted the parents and rushed to assist the child. She was quickly taken to a private hospital in Basavanagudi, where she is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU and is said to be responding positively. According to police, the mother had briefly stepped away to attend to milk kept on the stove when the incident occurred. The toddler is the couple’s only daughter.The child’s father told police that she had climbed onto a chair placed near the grill and was holding onto it when she slipped and fell. Doctors have since confirmed that she is out of danger. Apart from a head injury, she is otherwise safe. “We don’t blame anyone for the incident,” the father said.The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which shows the child peering through the grill moments before the fall. Hearing the commotion, neighbours alerted the mother, who rushed downstairs in panic and collapsed upon seeing her injured child. With the help of neighbours, the mother and child were taken to the hospital. Chandra Layout police said no complaint has been filed.
