Posters targeting Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge found in Wayanad; police register case
WAYANAD: Police have registered a case after posters targeting Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Mallikarjun Kharge appeared on the walls of the Congress office and nearby areas in Wayanad, officials said on Sunday.Officials at Kalpetta police station said the case was registered based on a complaint filed by MLA T Siddique.According to the FIR, posters targeting the three Congress leaders appeared on the compound wall of the Wayanad DCC office and in nearby areas on May 13, amid uncertainty over the selection of the next Kerala chief minister.Officials further said the posters also contained threats claiming that Vadra, the MP from Wayanad, would be defeated in the next election.It warned that “Wayanad will become the next Amethi”.Police said that Congress workers removed the posters shortly after the incident came to light.A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Kerala Police Act.Police have also obtained CCTV footage showing a person pasting the posters on the walls, and efforts are underway to identify and trace him, officials said.(Witha agency inputs)
