Can BJP score a hat-trick and seal Assam as an impenetrable fortress?
Once a Congress bastion, Assam has, over the past decade, firmly shifted into the orbit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Multiple opinion polls (here, here and here) indicate that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is well positioned to sustain this dominance. Factors such as constituency delimitation, the erosion of the Congress’ support base, exits and internal divisions within the grand old party, and possible fragmentation of Muslim votes are likely to work in NDA’s favour.
