Mumbai–Varanasi flight makes emergency landing in Bhubaneswar airport amid heavy fog

BHUBANESWAR: A Mumbai-Varanasi flight made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on Friday due to heavy fog at its intended destination, officials said.Meanwhile, dense fog continued to wreak havoc at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), with at least 79 flights cancelled on Friday, including some international services. Over 230 flights faced delays, with an average departure delay of 49 minutes, according to data from flight-tracking website Flightradar24.com.

IGIA, operated by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), typically handles around 1,300 flights daily. A DIAL official said on-ground staff are working closely with airlines and other stakeholders to assist passengers and provide support across the terminals, while regretting the inconvenience caused.
