KZC meets CM: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh to meet Kuki-Zo Council in Guwahati; Dialogue aims to restore peace in Manipur

Churachandpur: In a major attempt to bring back peace in the strife-torn state, CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh has agreed to meet the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) on Saturday at their preferred choice of venue, Guwahati.Having responded positively to the CM’s call to resolve the ongoing conflict, the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) had earlier agreed to sit for a dialogue, but only at a neutral venue, preferably Guwahati.KZC spokesperson Ginza Vualzong said the CM had confirmed his participation for the meeting in Guwahati, before adding that the council remained committed to upholding the community’s concerns, even as it prepared for the meeting.Previously, invitation letters, signed by Neilenthang Tellen, secretary to the CM, had been sent to KZC chairman Henlianthang Thanglet on Tuesday, requesting for a meet “to discuss matters related to bringing back peace and normalcy in Manipur.”The KZC cabinet resolved to hear the CM’s position, while stressing that the talks must reflect the aspirations and interests of the Kuki-Zo people.
