Tovino Thomas‘ most-awaited upcoming film ‘Pallichattambi’ has stepped into a controversy as the recent reports say that the waste materials from the film set were dumped along the riverbank after the shoot was completed. These were the remains of a set built specially for the movie and reportedly the debris was found on the banks of the Malankara reservoir. Reports from the Reporter website say that the incident happened at Kudayathoor in Idukki district where the local people noticed the waste lying near the water body and raised a complaint. They said the materials were dumped carelessly after the shoot ended. The waste was clearly visible near the reservoir area.Officials inspected the area soon after the complaint and they confirmed that the waste belonged to the film ‘Pallichattambi’.
Panchayat takes action after local complaints
The Kudayathoor Panchayat checked into the issue after receiving complaints from local residents and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on ‘Pallichattambi’ producers. The decision was taken to send a clear message about protecting nature and public spaces.‘Pallichattambi’s production team started clearing the waste once they received the order. A JCB machine was brought to the location to remove the debris. After the order the clean up work started.
Producers respond and cleanup begins
The producers of the film gave an explanation regarding the issue. They said that a contract had already been given to clear the debris after the shoot. According to them the problem happened because of a lapse on the contractor’s part.They also said that they took responsibility and started removing the waste immediately once the issue was raised. The production team themselves began the cleanup work using heavy machinery. The debris was slowly cleared from the riverbank area.
