‘Maintain peace for 1 year’: CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka released from detention | Delhi News
NEW DELHI: An executive magistrate court on Sunday released Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka from detention, a day after Delhi Police detained them following their arrival in the national capital ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar.They were released on condition that they would not “breach peace” for a year, CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh said.Advocate Soutik Banerjee also confirmed their release, saying, “All three (Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, and Saurav Das) have been released. They can go from here.”Delhi Police said the three leaders were preventively arrested under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on October 10. They were produced before the Sub-Divisional Executive Magistrate (SEM) court in Delhi Cantonment on Sunday, police said.“All due legal procedures were followed,” Delhi Police said, adding that a surety bond of Rs 50,000 was furnished to ensure peace and good behaviour for one year, following which the court released them.In a post on X after their release, CJP said, “Finally Delhi Police is forced to release Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das.”“Cockroaches never die,” the party added.The three leaders were detained by Delhi Police immediately after their flight landed in the national capital on Saturday and were subsequently placed under preventive arrest ahead of the planned protest at Jantar Mantar, police said.The detentions came amid a major security clampdown in Delhi. More than 7,000 protesters were detained at multiple locations, preventing them from reaching Jantar Mantar, police sources said.Several opposition leaders, including former chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Pinarayi Vijayan and Manik Sarkar, were also detained while attempting to join the protest.The CJP renewed its call for a protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday as police continued security arrangements across the city. More than 30,000 police and paramilitary personnel were to be deployed, according to the report.The CJP and opposition parties have been demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls.
