Lucknow Forum to aid lawyers, families get medical help | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Lawyers and their families travelling to the state capital from different districts for treatment of serious illnesses or medical emergencies will soon have access to a support network to help them navigate hospitals, doctors and treatment procedures.Known as ‘Advocate Medical Services Cooperation Committee’, the forum was formed by Ali Asif Zama Rizwi, chairman, law department, UP Congress.“Lawyers referred to higher medical institutions in Lucknow often face difficulties in identifying the appropriate hospital or doctor and understanding treatment procedures, particularly when they arrive from remote districts. No fellow lawyer should be left alone in times of illness or crisis,” Rizvi told reporters on Thursday.Adding that the initiative was aimed at providing timely guidance and support to lawyers and their families, he said that Manoj Mishra, state general secretary of the Law Department and Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench, was appointed state coordinator of the committee. Advocates Satya Prakash Pandey, Sanjay Kumar Verma, Umesh Kumar Srivastava and Aseem Samant are its members.The committee will coordinate, wherever possible, with hospitals, doctors and other medical institutions when a lawyer or family member is referred to Lucknow for treatment. Rizvi said the committee would be expanded to include advocates from different parts of the state who could assist with local medical coordination. A detailed list of office-bearers and members will be released after its expansion.
