2 dead in Amroha shop collapse amid rain | Meerut News
Bijnor: Two men were killed on Wednesday after a dilapidated concrete structure of a clothes shop collapsed on them during rain near Hanuman temple in Basti locality of Gajraula in Amroha district.The victims include street vendor Sher Singh (25) and Suresh Diwakar (62), who ironed clothes nearby.The structure collapsed suddenly, trapping both men under heavy debris. Rescue operations were briefly delayed after a live electric current leaked into the area, forcing locals to disconnect power supply before pulling out the victims.Circle officer Anjali Katariya stated that both men were rushed to a community health centre, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.SDM Shailesh Dubey visited the scene and ordered a drive to identify structurally weak buildings across the city. Authorities are preparing a report to process financial aid for the victims’ families, as the incident renews safety concerns over aging structures during the monsoon season.
