Agra: Bollywood actor Chandrachur Singh appeared before police at Jalalpur outpost under Rorawar police station in Aligarh district in connection with an alleged forgery and fraud case involving his family’s ancestral property, police said on Sunday. An FIR was registered a fortnight ago against seven named persons, including three people reportedly residing in Sweden, besides one unidentified person.The case was filed on a complaint by Singh’s younger brother, Abhimanyu, who has alleged that an unregistered will purportedly executed by their grandfather, Harendra Pal Singh, was forged to facilitate the illegal transfer and sale of ancestral property.Speaking to reporters after appearing before the police, Chandrachur described the matter as a serious case of “fraud and forgery”. He alleged that the disputed will was prepared when his grandfather was ill and incapable of executing such a document.As per the complaint, Harendra purportedly executed the disputed will on Jan 30, 1997, a day before his death at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi. The complainant has questioned the authenticity of the document, claiming that the elderly man had been bedridden and seriously ill since Dec 1996.The FIR names Gayatri Devi, ex-wife of late Ganga Singh, uncle of Chandrachur, along with her son Jai and daughter Anjani, who are stated to be residents of Sweden. Others named in the case include Robin Akesson, Sandeep Kumar Singh, Shiv Kumar and Ajeet Singh Tomar. One unidentified person has also been included in the FIR.The complainant has alleged that the disputed will was used to claim rights over several parcels of ancestral agricultural land in Ashrafpur Jalal village of Koil tehsil, besides an old family haveli on Khair Road in Aligarh.Singh alleged that the signatures appearing on the disputed will were suspiciously clear and bold despite his grandfather’s alleged deteriorating health. The family has also alleged that some of the disputed properties were subsequently sold. Chandrachur claimed that the family had been pursuing the matter with authorities for the past 8-10 months and details regarding the properties and alleged transactions would be disclosed at an appropriate stage.Roravar SHO Ravi Chandrawal said, “We are examining the disputed will, property records, signatures, witness statements and other evidence.”
