No more fare worries: Elderly women hail Yogi for free travel scheme | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Beneficiaries of the newly launched Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra Yojana on Wednesday welcomed the initiative launched by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, saying it would give them greater independence and make pilgrimages to destinations such as Ayodhya and Kashi more accessible.Under the scheme, women aged 60 years and above can travel free on UPSRTC buses by showing their Aadhaar card or voter ID card.Ganesh Devi of Gosaiganj expressed happiness over the initiative and said she would now be able to travel without worry. Rajrani said the scheme was a major gift for mothers, adding that it would enable women to travel more freely.Mithana Devi of Nizampur in Lucknow said Yogi govt had introduced a facility that would ensure women no longer have to depend on others for travel.During the interaction with the CM, several women expressed appreciation for the initiative. Some participants said they were proud of Yogi Adityanath’s efforts for women, while chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoed through the venue.Anjali Srivastava, a second-year BSc student and a resident of Munshi Puliya, said she will use the facility to visit her brother on Rakshabandhan. Aastha Rajput of Jankipuram said she and her mother will avail themselves of the benefit while travelling for the festival.Shagun Nishad of Khadra said women were also presented with sarees and sweets. Rachna Rawat of Ahmamau said she was delighted to meet the CM for the first time.Hina Parveen of Faizullaganj said she felt proud of efforts aimed at the welfare of women and children. Divya Pathak of Siddharthnagar said the chief minister’s policies reflected respect for women.A large number of elderly women attended the programme enthusiastically despite their age. Many of them are associated with self-help groups and said govt support has helped them become self-reliant.
