Andhra family of 5 found hanging in suicide pact at Srisailam pilgrim lodge
A heartbreaking event unfolded at the Vaddera Choultries in Srisailam, where five family members allegedly ended their lives

TIRUPATI: Five members of a family were found dead at a pilgrim accommodation facility in Srisailam in Nandyal district on Tuesday, with police suspecting that health problems and financial difficulties may have driven them to suicide.The deceased were identified as Pallapu Sudhakar (36), his sisters Gogula Adi Lakshmi (50), Malleswari (45) and Sridevi (33), and his 15-year-old nephew Manikanta. They were residents of Battalapalli village in Sri Sathya Sai district.According to police, Sudhakar had arrived in Srisailam on July 28 along with his three sisters and nephew. The five travelled in Sudhakar’s autorickshaw and took a room at Vadde Satram, a pilgrim accommodation facility.The family had reportedly been staying there for nearly a month. Lodge staff became suspicious after the occupants had not been seen outside for two days and a foul smell began emanating from the room.On Tuesday, staff found the room locked and, after detecting the smell, opened a window andt found all five persons hanging. Police were alerted immediately.Police said preliminary inquiries indicated that all five family members had health problems. Sudhakar’s two elder sisters had reportedly separated from their husbands, while the family’s financial condition was also poor. Sudhakar was supporting the family by driving an autorickshaw.An official said police suspect the family may have taken the extreme step after becoming disillusioned amid prolonged health and financial difficulties.
