Noor, a resident of Sabdariyabad Mohalla on Guttalu Road

MANDYA: A 69-year-old woman who made a living by begging had amassed savings of Rs 8.40 lakh, including coins she had collected and stored in bags at her home, as well as money deposited in her bank account.Noor, a resident of Sabdariyabad Mohalla on Guttalu Road under the jurisdiction of the East Police Station, used to beg on the city’s roads and at traffic circles. She lived alone in her own house in the locality.Over the years, Noor had been collecting the coins she received while begging and storing them in bags at her home.She died of age-related ailments on Wednesday. Her family members, along with local residents, performed her last rites.Later, when the money kept in the bags at her house was counted and the balance in her bank account was taken into account, her total savings were found to be Rs 8.40 lakh.Police said no case had been registered as Noor had died of natural causes.
