Stamp vendor dies of burns as car catches fire on village road in Barabanki | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A 43-year-old stamp vendor was burnt alive after his car caught fire while he was travelling to his native village to meet his mother in Barabanki district on Sunday morning.Police said Raj Narayan Verma, a resident of Bariyarpur who also owned a house in Vijaynagar locality of Barabanki city, worked as a stamp vendor at Barabanki district court.His brother, Rinku Verma, informed the police that Raj Narayan left for Bariyarpur in his car on Sunday morning. “He stopped briefly at a traders’ shop in Baghaura before continuing towards the village. Around 9 am, as he left the Ayodhya highway and took the road leading to Bariyarpur, the vehicle caught fire.Flames spread quickly and engulfed the car within moments giving him no time to exit the vehicle. He sustained fatal burns and died inside the car.Residents alerted the police and fire brigade. Emergency teams reached the spot and brought the blaze under control, but the car was completely gutted.Police said they were examining whether an electrical or mechanical fault triggered the blaze or if any other factor was involved.Safdarganj station house officer Amar Kumar Chaurasia said the body had been sent for post-mortem and the circumstances surrounding the incident were being investigated. Officials said the exact cause would be confirmed after forensic analysis.
