Dharwad: Swar Samrat Padma Bhushan Pt Basavaraj Rajguru National Memorial Trust will organise a national award presentation ceremony and national music festival on Aug 24, to mark the 106th birth anniversary of Pt Basavaraj Rajguru. The programme will be held at 5.30pm at Karnataka Kulapurohit Alur Venkatrao Bhavan here.Pt Basavaraj Rajguru National Award for 2025-26, carrying Rs 1 lakh cash and a citation, will be presented to renowned musician Pt Parameshwar Hegde.Two young artistes have been selected for the youth awards — Bengaluru-based young Hindustani classical vocalist Aniruddha Aithal and Mysuru-based sarod player Sachin Hampe. Each award carries Rs 25,000 cash and a citation.Hindustani vocalist Pt M Venkateshkumar will inaugurate the programme, while DC Snehal R will present the awards.Following the award ceremony, Pt Hegde will present a Hindustani classical vocal recital. Youth award recipients Aithal and Hampe will also perform.
