US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (local time) announced an “Economic D-Day” against Iran, warning of what he called the most severe economic operation ever imposed on a country.“No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran a greater opportunity to make a Deal than me. TRAGICALLY, for them, they have failed to take it,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. He warned that Iran would now face “economic warfare and isolation on an unprecedented scale.”Trump also warned countries against providing Iran with “any type of lifeline,” threatening them with “tremendous economic consequences.”“Oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, front companies — It all needs to stop NOW. You know who you are,” he wrote, calling it an “ECONOMIC D-DAY” and urging US allies to join Washington in isolating and defeating what he described as the Iranian threat.Describing the Iranian as “maniacs,” he further stated that these “historic measures” would “cripple” Tehran and and its “ability to project terror worldwide.”
